Matt's work is shaped by a deep sense of community and his Roman Catholic faith. For fifteen years he has been a catechist, speaker, and youth minister. He holds a Certificate in Youth Ministry from Franciscan University.
Along with his academic wife, Jessica Pauly PhD, he has lived across the country (Kansas, New York, Nebraska, Indiana, Utah, California) and world (Copenhagen, Paris), experiencing the richness of Catholic life in a wide variety of parishes and worship spaces.
He has volunteered in a variety of leadership roles. He has served on multiple parish councils, was hair of the Art & Architecture Committee for the Diocese of Salt Lake City, Member of the Liturgical Commission for the Diocese of Salt Lake City, and co-chair of their 10,000-person Mass for the Eucharistic Rally in Utah. He currently is on the Building Commission for the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas.
Matt and his wife Jessica are the proud parents of three children at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Lawrence, Kansas. His favorite Gospel is John.

Speaking & Teaching.
In addition to his role as a youth minister, Matt has given talks on a variety of subjects, both faith-based and secular audiences. He has experience teaching at the university level as an Adjunct Lecturer at University of Kansas and Associate in Architecture at Columbia University.
His interests span design, technology, storytelling, sci-fi / fantasy, and community. He has given talks on everything from Pixel Art, Adobe Illustrator, Revit tutorials, Story Slams, and community engagement for young college men. He is an engaging storyteller and has been a guest on NPR and multiple podcasts.
