About Matt
He believes that the built environment can positively impact individuals and communities to bring about real change in the world. Matt grew up on a farm in northeast Kansas, where he quickly discovered that his love of drawing was better suited to design than farming. His life has taken him around the world through study (New York, Paris, Kenya), work (South Korea, San Francisco), and an academic wife (Indiana, Utah, Copenhagen). The more he has seen, the more he has realized how much he still has to learn. What continues to amaze him is that despite our differences, cultures, and beliefs, humanity has the capacity to do amazing things together.
His work is rooted in urban development and large, multifaceted projects. His personal faith and commitment to making the world better drive his design.
He lives in Lawrence, Kansas, with his academic wife, Jessica Pauly, Ph.D., and three children. When he is not writing in the third person, he enjoys hikes, DnD, drawing, comics, Christopher Nolan movies, fantasy books, reading up on the Church, and just being alone—which rarely happens because of the three kids.
